There are certain standard ways to express wishes, invitations or offers and replies.

1 - Popular expressions for sending good wishes:

Examples:
- Say hello to Tom for me.
- Please give Tina our best.
- Give Sean our love/regards/best wishes.

2 - To express sympathy for a great loss, such as a death:

Examples:
- We were very/terribly/extremely sorry to hear about...
- I was very sad to hear the news about…

End your remarks, either oral or written by saying:
- Please accept my/our deepest sympathy.

3 - For offers and replies, there are standard phrases used to make an offer and to accept or reject one.

Offer Examples:
- Would you like a brochure to explain the services we offer?
- Can/may I get/offer you…?

Acceptance and Rejection Examples:
- Yes, thank you.
- No, thank you.
- That would be very nice, thank you.

4 - When you do not hear or understand something, it is common to say, "Excuse me?" or "Sorry?" or "I beg your pardon?" Very informally, one might say, "What?" but be careful about using "What?" in this way because it could be considered abrupt or even rude.

Examples:
- Could you come to my office please? Pardon me? I said, could you come to my office please?
- He’s on the phone now. Excuse me? John is on the phone now
